AI voice generation in 34 languages

Mayantar generates speech in English, Hinglish, eleven Indian languages, and twenty-one more. The Indian languages are the ones we built the product around — they run on a model trained on Indian-language speech rather than an English engine asked to read Devanagari.

Indian languages

These twelve options — Hindi, Hinglish and ten regional languages — share a generation path built for Indian speech. Two practical consequences: reference recordings are capped at 12 seconds, and English words embedded in the text are converted to the local script before generation instead of being silently dropped.

English

English reference recordings are capped at 12 seconds, the same cap as the Indian-language models. English is the only language available on every tier including free. Read the English voice generation page for what that means in practice, including accent handling.

Other supported languages

These twenty-one languages are generated with a multilingual model that supports cross-lingual cloning, and take a 12-second reference clip just like Indian languages. Each has its own page covering what is different about generating it — how the script handles stress, which distinctions your typing has to get right, and whether the accent is something you choose or something your reference clip decides.

Interface languages are a different list

The Mayantar interface itself is translated into 11 languages — English, Hindi, Odia, Assamese, French, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Russian, Arabic (right-to-left) and Japanese. That is deliberately separate from the 34 generation languages above: you can run the app in English and generate Tamil, or run it in Arabic and generate Spanish. Nothing about the interface language constrains what you can generate.

Frequently asked questions

How many languages does Mayantar support?

34 generation languages: English, Hinglish, and 11 Indian languages served by an Indian-language model, plus 21 further languages including Spanish, French, German, Mandarin, Japanese, Arabic and Swahili.

Can I clone a voice in one language and generate in another?

Technically yes, but quality drops noticeably. A reference clip recorded in a different language from your output is measurably worse than one recorded in the target language, so record your reference in the language you plan to publish in.

Why is Hinglish listed separately from Hindi?

Because they need different preprocessing. Devanagari Hindi and Roman-script Hinglish are handled on different paths, and selecting the wrong one is the most common cause of words being mispronounced or skipped.

Is the Mayantar interface available in these languages?

They are two separate lists. The app interface is translated into eleven languages — English, Hindi, Odia, Assamese, French, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Russian, Arabic and Japanese. The 34 languages on this page are the languages the generated audio can be in, and the two do not constrain each other.
