Hindi AI voice generator and voice cloning

Hindi is the language Mayantar was built around first, not one that was added to a language dropdown later. The generation stack for Hindi is a model trained on Indian-language speech, which is why the output carries Hindi vowel length and consonant aspiration instead of an English text-to-speech engine's approximation of them.

You can either type Devanagari directly or record a short Hindi reference clip and generate in your own voice. Most creators do the second: a single 12-second recording is enough to produce a voice you can reuse across every script you write afterwards.

If your script mixes English words into Hindi sentences — which almost every real Hindi script does — read the Hinglish page too. The handling is different and it matters more than people expect.

What is different about generating Hindi

  • Reference clips for Hindi are capped at 12 seconds. That is a model constraint, not a storage one: the Hindi model conditions on the reference transcript as well as the audio, and a clip that overruns the cap makes generations repeat or babble.
  • English words written in Latin script inside Hindi text are converted to Devanagari before generation. Left alone, they are dropped rather than mispronounced — the failure is silent, which is why the preprocessing step exists.
  • The Devanagari full stop (danda, ।) is treated as a sentence boundary when long text is split into chunks, so long-form Hindi narration does not break mid-clause.

Reference scripts to read in Hindi

These are the exact prompts Mayantar shows you in the recorder. Each one is timed to land inside the 12-second limit at a natural pace, and each covers something cloning models need: relaxed conversational prosody, spoken digits and dates, and a question with rising intonation. Read one aloud in a quiet room and you have a usable reference clip.

Hindi voice generation: common questions

How long does my Hindi reference recording need to be?

Up to 12 seconds, and at least a few seconds of actual speech. Mayantar checks the clip before it is used and rejects recordings that are too short, too quiet, or clipped, with a message telling you which problem to fix.

Can I type Hindi in Roman letters instead of Devanagari?

Yes — pick Hinglish as the language rather than Hindi. Hinglish is a separate option in Mayantar precisely because Roman-script Hindi needs different handling from Devanagari, and choosing the wrong one is the most common cause of odd-sounding output.

Will English brand names inside a Hindi script be pronounced?

Yes. Latin-script words inside Hindi text are transliterated to Devanagari before generation, so a word like WhatsApp is spoken rather than skipped.
