Hinglish text to speech that actually sounds Hinglish

Hinglish is what most Indian creators actually write: Hindi grammar and vocabulary typed in Roman letters, with English nouns left in English. "Aaj ka video thoda different hai" is one sentence, not a Hindi sentence with English errors in it.

Most text-to-speech tools handle this badly in one of two ways. English engines read the Hindi words as though they were English, so "chalo" becomes "chah-loh". Hindi engines trained only on Devanagari drop the Latin-script words entirely — and because the failure is silent, you only notice when you play the file back and a word is missing.

Mayantar treats Hinglish as its own language option with its own preprocessing path, separate from both Hindi and English. That is the whole reason it exists as a third entry in the language list rather than being folded into Hindi.

What is different about generating Hinglish

  • Roman-script Indian-language text and English words mixed into an Indian-language script are normalised before generation. Without that step, models trained only on native-script audio tend to skip Latin-script words silently rather than pronounce them.
  • Because Hinglish routes through the Indian-language model, its reference clips share Hindi's 12-second cap.
  • Record your reference clip in Hinglish if you intend to generate Hinglish. A reference clip in a different language measurably degrades output quality, so a clean English clip is a worse starting point for Hinglish than a slightly noisier Hinglish one.

Reference scripts to read in Hinglish

These are the exact prompts Mayantar shows you in the recorder. Each one is timed to land inside the 12-second limit at a natural pace, and each covers something cloning models need: relaxed conversational prosody, spoken digits and dates, and a question with rising intonation. Read one aloud in a quiet room and you have a usable reference clip.

  1. Hello dosto, yeh meri awaaz hai aur main aaj ek chhota sa sample record kar raha hoon. Mujhe music sunna pasand hai.
  2. Chalo thode numbers bolte hain: 1, 2, 3, 4 aur 5. Meri meeting subah 9:30 baje, 15 March ko hai.
  3. Kya aapne kabhi socha hai ki ek simple recording kisi ki awaaz ko kaise capture kar leti hai? Mujhe yeh kaafi interesting lagta hai.

Hinglish voice generation: common questions

What is Hinglish text to speech?

It is speech synthesis for code-mixed Hindi-English text written in Roman script. The engine has to recognise that "kal" is a Hindi word and "deadline" is an English one inside the same sentence, and pronounce each the way an Indian speaker would.

Should I choose Hindi or Hinglish?

Choose by script, not by content. If your text is in Devanagari, choose Hindi. If it is in Roman letters — even if it is almost entirely Hindi words — choose Hinglish.

Does Hinglish work with a cloned voice?

Yes. Clone from a Hinglish reference clip and generate Hinglish scripts in your own voice. Both cloning and Hinglish generation need a paid plan — the free tier generates English only, with preset voices.
